The Distribution System Operator AllgäuNetz GmbH & Co.KG ensures reliable electricity supply in Allgäu with 110 kV/20 kV underground and overhead cables. In 2010, in the run-up to a few planned telecontrol modernisation measures, a net-line FW-5 station was adapted to the PSI control centre LAN using IEC 60870-5-104. The test results were convincing.
So it was decided at the end of 2011 to commission SAE IT with the new telecontrol technology for the Kempten OST 110/20 kV substation. Two free-standing cabinets were supplied, a cascaded net-line FW-50 station with 4 racks being connected to the control centre using IEC 60870-5-104. As well as receiving a series of messages and measured values, switches are 1.5-pole actuated and acknowledged by double command by means of interlocked DSO modules. The transformer regulator application is likewise integrated in the substation. The distance and differential protective units present in the substation are connected via 4 cables using IEC 60870-5-103. In the second cabinet, the whole distribution is arranged in a clearly visible manner. With initial commissioning support, it was possible to complete the project independently.
The good project experience with the Kempten OST substation is now being used for telecontrol modernisation measures for the substations Seifen and Zell, the basic design of which is similar.
