REWAG stands for high-quality energy, drinking water and heating supply in and around Regensburg. In the course of the local network automation project, after prior testing in 2010, REWAG decided on net-line FW-5 telecontrol units with add-on modules. From the start, all stations were put into operation discretely, which is easily doable thanks to the innovative configuration tool setIT.
The first stations were coupled for upward communication to the PSI central control station with a LUCOM GPRS modem, so that connection using IEC 60870-5-104 could be set up. Later, FO connections were also made, which should gradually replace the VFT connections. Owing to good experiences with stable hardware and easily operated configuration and diagnostic software, other applications such as Modbus remote connections and protective equipment connections using IEC 60870-5-103 were added.
In 2012, a prefabricated cabinet per installation site was planned for a transformer station modernisation project. In this case we delivered the net-line FW-5 systems with 4 add-on modules each to a switchgear engineer on site in Regensburg, who prepared the complete modules for REWAG. In this case too, data connections were mostly made to LUCOM GPRS modems using IEC 60870-5-104.
